The Independent Film Channel pays tribute to the movement that provided its name with Primal Screen, a program of four influential films shown as they should bein a theater, not on TV. The event promises brand new prints of Robert Altman’s The Long Goodbye (12:30 p.m.), Martin Scorsese’s Taxi Driver (3 p.m.), Jim Jarmusch’s Stranger Than Paradise (7 p.m.), and Steven Soderbergh’s Sex, Lies, and Videotape (9 p.m.). Each film will be introduced by its director via video clip, and a panel discussion of the films is scheduled for 5:15 p.m. At the American Film Institute theater, Kennedy Center.
