While I was recently selling a batch of used CDs, the buyer asked me to describe an obscure band. “Shoe-gazers,” I innocently replied. “Turd!” he blurted and threw the disc on the stack of rejects. Apparently, the early-’90s sound of hazy guitars and cooed vocals made popular by English acts like Ride and Lush clog up used CD bins like hair in a drain. All Natural Lemon and Lime Flavors’ members surely gaze at their shoes but not out of shyness; they just need to navigate their stomp boxes. The Philadelphia quintet uses swirly sounds to etch deep textures into catchy psychedelic pop tunes. I will not be selling either of the group’s two CDs—and its not just because I can’t. Feel the brotherly love vibes of fellow Phillies Aspera Ad Astra along with local heroes Better Automatic and Free Range Pilgrim at 7 p.m. at George Washington University’s CPAC Theatre, 514 19th St. NW. $5.
