WEDNESDAY
An Interview magazine piece had octogenarian Louise Bourgeois dressed in a huge foam rubber suit, like a walking flesh-colored mound of profiteroles. Any artist who gets weirder as she gets older gets star billing in my book. Abandon, a 16-minute film by Pouran Esrafily in collaboration with Bourgeois, stars the artist, playing herself, and young actress Susannah Storr, who plays her at age 6. The film is described by its makers as an “erotic thriller” in which Bourgeois exorcises the demons of her childhood. I have no idea what that means, but it makes me want to go all the more. Esrafily will be on hand to discuss the film and answer the questions that the film will doubtless raise. At 7:30 p.m. at the Corcoran Gallery’s Hammer Auditorium, 17th & New York Ave. NW. $16.
