Elvis may be everywhere, but he might as well stay away from Washington this July. That’s because every Thursday of the month, D.C. will become Liverpool on the Potomac as a variety of faux Fab Fours shake their wigs and crank out the Merseybeat at the National Portrait Gallery. Washington’s premier Beatles tribute band, Invasion, has been cruelly excluded from the bill, but look for them soon at washingtoncitypaper.com. Featured instead are Imagine: The Beatles Tribute (July 2), Yesterday: A Tribute to the Beatles (July 9), Shout: A Fantastic Tribute to the Fab Four (July 16), Day Tripper: A Beatles Tribute Show (July 23), and The Fab Four: America’s Ultimate Tribute to the Beatles (July 30). Yes, though they may look like John, Paul, George, and Ringo, in fact they’re Tim, Richi, Jeff, Neil, Don, Davey, Monte, Dick, Greg, Todd, Bob, Rae, Roy, Bob, Mike, William, Ron, Ardy, David, and Rolo. Hey, is “Rolo” any stranger than “Ringo?” See for yourself at 12:30 & 6 p.m. Thursdays in July at the National Portrait Gallery, 8th & G Sts. NW. Free. (202) 357-2700. (Dave Nuttycombe)
