The Virginia Scottish Games are designed to celebrate Alexandria’s Scottish heritage, so why not open the 25th annual edition of the event with a kilt-clad band? Seven Nations is billed as a Celtic-rock band, but this is a rare instance where “Celtic” takes precedence over “rock” in that formula: Named for the seven “nations” where Celtic culture is still evident today, this South Carolina quartet knows its pipes and whistles and sets off its originals with traditional ditties (“Ye Jacobites by Name,” “Canadee-i-o”) and miners’ protest songs (“The Pound a Week Rise”). The City of Washington Pipe Band will also perform. At 9 p.m. at Flippin Field House, Episcopal High School, West Braddock Road & Quaker Lane, Alexandria. $10. (703) 912-1943. (Mark Jenkins)
