One of Frank Zappa’s enduring legacies is the fact that approximately 278,000 musicians went through his various bands over the years, players with massive chops but little to say without Frank to point the baton. But many are still out and about, spreading the gospel of wizard licks. One such apostle is guitar and keyboard maestro Mike Keneally, who also spent time in Dweezil’s employ. On his CD Sluggo! he and his band Beer for Dolphins fly through such obscurely titled workouts as “Potato” and “Egg Zooming.” Opening the show, appropriately enough, are local Zappatistas the Other People, who recall the composer’s zanier early days. The freakout begins at 8 p.m. at Jaxx, 6355 Rolling Road, Springfield. $10. (703) 569-5940. (Dave Nuttycombe)
