SUNDAY

With all the aging hipsters lurking in local rock haunts, it can be easy to forget that much of today’s D.C. underground music community was once built on the shoulders of a steadfast do-it-for-the-kids ethos. 30¢ Thieves bring back the adolescent idealism and youthful abandon of the days when today’s senior scenesters first marked X’s on their fists and shook them in the air. Weaned on D.C. punk and ’90s alt-rock and mentored by local favorites the Most Secret Method, these charismatic high school rockers from Hyattsville average just over 16 years of age but have already graced the hallowed stages at Fort Reno and the Black Cat with their heartfelt anthems. Startlingly original guitar-heavy tunes and spirited stage antics poise the band for a place in the local pantheon. With Kid Dynamite at 9 p.m. at Galaxy Hut, 2711 Wilson Blvd., Arlington. Free.
