FRIDAY

Forget all your troubles and journey back to a simpler time with the Towering Bouffants tonight at the Lighthouse Tavern. With just a hint of irreverence, these vivacious ladies make the girl-group sound of the ’60s live again. Their enthusiastic (and faithful) renditions of “Heat Wave,” “Dancing in the Street,” “One Fine Day,” “Then He Kissed Me,” and other classics show why those songs will live forever. The Bouffants themselves are quite a show, too, with their cute (but pointed) stage patter, synchronized dance steps, mile-high hair, and amazing outfits that resemble a cross between the Supremes, high school greaserettes, and the Mod look. The nostalgia party begins at 9 p.m. (outside, weather permitting) at the Lighthouse Tavern, 1901 N. Fort Myer Drive, Arlington. Free. (703) 351-6100. (Ken Roseman)
