D.C. music scene aficionados fearing tinnitus from amps turned up to 11 can find haven at the District of Columbia Arts Center’s monthly Songwriter’s Circle—a neo-MTV Unplugged that’s featured Peter Hayes, Eric Brace, and Fire Dean in acoustic roundtables past. Hosts Bill McKenna of Luminosa and Sam Spencer of now-defunct band-about-town Big Bang Theory check electronica at the door and preside over four-person circles of hand-picked participants who pass the mike and share a tune. This Saturday, Tuscadero chanteuse Missy Farris’ girl-power timbres join Keith Lofton (Lazy K, Basehead) and four others for an evening swelling softly with song. At 10 p.m. tonight (and second Saturdays starting in September) at the District of Columbia Arts Center, 2438 18th St. NW. $5. (202) 462-7833. (Jessica Dawson)
