There’s still time to nominate local icons for Best of D.C.
Who could resist the lure of the Maidenform Museum, the Beer Can House, or the Ghost Town Hall of Fame? More to the point, who could find these out-of-the-way wonders? Lynne Arany and Archie Hobson have not only located more than 1,000 of these offbeat exhibitors, they’ve authored a guide to Little Museums nationwide. Tonight representatives from three local entries (that fall into the not-so-little category of the book), the Folger Shakespeare Library, the National Building Museum, and the B’nai B’rith Klutznick National Jewish Museum, will discuss the themes and exhibits that earned them a spot in this well-organized catalog of curiousities. Get the inside scoop on the First Folio of Shakespeare, Hoover Dam builders the Bechtel Group, and the National Jewish American Sports Hall of Fame. And just try to pretend you’re not interested in the Goodyear World of Rubber, the House of Cash, or the Muscle Car Ranch. At 7:30 p.m. at Barnes & Noble, 4801 Bethesda Ave., Bethesda. Free.
