As regulars of Al Tiramisu in Dupont Circle are undoubtedly aware, chef Luigi Diotaiuti works a dining room as well as he does a kitchen. If you order the catch of the day, plan on being eye-to-eye with your meal before it’s cooked, and the Italian-born chef’s taste in printed fabrics would please the Mighty Mighty Bosstones. Diotaiuti’s gifts as a performer will be put to good use this evening as he presides over a makeshift kitchen at the Borders in Arlington, which is celebrating Italian Book Month. Diotaiuti will discuss Italy’s culinary traditions and offer attendees the opportunity to sample some of his specialties. At 7 p.m. at Borders, 1201 Hayes St., Arlington. Free. (703) 418-0166.
