There’s still time to nominate local icons for Best of D.C.
Just who does Bobby Conn think he is? Chicago musical entertainer extraordinaire, self-proclaimed antichrist, or the originator of the “Continuous Ca$h Flow System” theory? Whatever societal role he chooses to play, Bobby does it with copious doses of enthusiasm and flair. On his latest album, Rise Up!, he’s got all the trappings of an egomaniacal Ziggy Stardust on a rampage to herald the new Armageddon. Mixing a neo-’70s vibe with offhand pronouncements of doom ‘n’ gloom, Conn and his assembled crew’s music both confuses and astounds. Known to perform in accouterments suited to his station (e.g., a satin Speedo), Mr. Conn is destined to entertain and amaze one and all when he takes his posturing to the Black Cat’s stage. Faith opens at 8:30 p.m. at the Black Cat, 1831 14th St. NW. $5. (202) 667-7960. (Amy Domingues)
