Can it be that you have forgotten (“Kevin Can Wait,” 8/28) that, from the beginning of his tenure on the D.C. Council, Kevin Chavous, along with the few other so-called Young Turks, railed against the same deficit spending and spendthrift ways of the past that Chief Financial Officer Anthony Williams takes credit for eliminating?
Lest we forget, had the others on the Council seen fit to agree with Chavous and the other “Turks,” there would have been no need for a CFO Williams, a control board, or an appointed “emergency” school board of trustees. Indeed, Williams would still be living in Virginia and commuting to his office in the Agriculture Department, collecting his salary and taking it back to Virginia without a care for the District’s budgetary plight.
