African Head Charge, electric Miles Davis, Master Musicians of Jajouka, and This Heat share a unifying trait with the British duo Spaceheads: They all play music that has no beginning, middle, or end, but is still coherent enough to take you any place you want to go. These artists’ sonic travelogues show a circuitous journey through obtuse polyrhythms and funky beats, swirling effects and sonorous silences, mellifluous melodies and careening chaos. Consisting of trumpeter Andy Diagram and his echo machine and whammy harmonizer pedal, along with drummer Richard Harrison, Spaceheads make time travel seem possible, from the first ping of sound to the last atomic bang. Take a trip with Spaceheads when they blast off with the Make-Up at 8:30 p.m. at the Black Cat, 1831 14th St. NW. $6. (202) 667-7960. (Christopher Porter)
