Kimberly Causey knows way too much about interior design. In her book, The Insider’s Guide to Buying Home Furnishings, she offers a near-comprehensive how-to, with details that do-it-yourself divas like Martha Stewart wouldn’t even tell their best friends. It’s hard to imagine anyone having the stamina to compile such a vast array of information. Causey’s step-by-step instructions range from informative and helpful (like how to find a reputable hardware store) to dwelling on the infinitesimal details (such as the difference between American and metric-measured wallpaper). Her nearly 400-page bible isn’t as inclusive as it seems, though; Causey neglects to mention any Internet merchants that might offer cyber-consumer discounts. Still, her tips for wannabe decorators are plentiful. She’ll discuss and sign copies of her book at 7:30 p.m. at Barnes & Noble, 4801 Bethesda Ave., Bethesda. Free. (301) 986-1761. (Tina Plottel)
