I have driven Rock Creek Parkway (“Death Valley,” 10/9) for nearly a decade with absolutely no incident. Know why? Because I can read. See, all roads are designed with a maximum safe speed. It’s usually 25 mph on Rock Creek Parkway, and it’s posted everywhere. So hit a tree going 50, and you won’t get much sympathy from me. Getting into an accident and blaming the road is like buying an ugly dress and blaming the mirror. Slow down a little—you might live longer. And that dress is ugly.
