Farewell Bend has a terrific new split single with Shiner on DeSoto Records and a debut full-length, In Passing, just out from Slowdime Records. Both releases furnish the same explosive drumming and emotive crooning that made the members’ previous bands Giants Chair and Boys Life hits. After finishing its current tour in early November, Farewell Bend plans to relocate to Silver Spring from Kansas City. On previous tours, the band made fast friends with the folks in the now-defunct D.C. bands Kerosene 454 and Crownhate Ruin, and, judging from the sounds of Farewell Bend’s live show at the Metro Cafe last month, the influence of densely layered D.C. post-punk is upon it.
