Starting this week, the Sorts will be touring Europe until Dec. 17, spanning 15 countries in support of a new five-song EP from Chicago-based Aesthetics Records and More There, their most recent album from Slowdime. The Sorts aren’t afraid to jam and largely manage to avoid the horrid musical pitfalls that jamming can entail. Deadheads, Phishphiles, and jam freaks around the globe beware: Next month, the Sorts will meet up with legendary Canadian punkers Nomeansno for five dates in Poland. The Sorts have also recorded a split single with D.C. jazz-punk quintet the Boom, allegedly out this fall from Big Top Records. The two bands swap members regularly and together represent the finest in post-harDCore musical recovery—smart instrumentation with gritty delivery and quite catholic musical influences. The split will be a must-have. (CB)
