The Most Secret Method has been leaving town for “weekend mini-tours” throughout October, playing shows throughout the mid-Atlantic region to push its fantastic debut album, Get Lovely, out on Slowdime. “I think Get Lovely’s a really good slice of what we’re up to as a band,” says guitarist Marc Nelson. The record has beautiful artwork by drummer Ryan Nelson and features Smart Went Crazy cellist Hillary Soldati and Dischord soprano Amy Pickering on an extended operatic interlude. It’s full of adventurous, spirited songs with tight drumming on an extremely minimalist kit; thick, heavy bass; fast guitar; cool feedback effects and production tricks; and great alternating male/female vocals. The Most Secret Method also has a track called “Dovetail” coming out in late November on the Resin Records Spy Compilation 7-inch, which will also feature 30¢ Thieves, Free Range Pilgrim, and Frodus side project Travelers of Time. The whisper wire is twitching with news of a possible Most Secret Method European tour next spring. UK label Spread Records is aiming for a winter release of an EP by Marc Nelson’s previous band, Fine Day. The record features previously unreleased material and the out-of-print Fine Day 7-inch. “That thing’s been sitting on the shelf for years, and it was really meant to be shared with people,” says Nelson. “Now Fine Day can finally

be buried.” (CB)
