I hope Carol Schwartz doesn’t break an arm while patting herself on the back about her parking meter fee moratorium (The Mail, 10/9).
Let’s imagine the D.C. Council passed a bill to remove the damned meters altogether and create a couple of thousand parking spacesthat would be something to cheer about.
Instead, the council looked the other way as a suburban contractor walked away with $27 million for parking meter “maintenance.” Now we’re supposed to be grateful because they broke off a lousy Saturday moratorium with “exceptions”? Please!
If I wanted a mayor to drop me crumbs while feeding the cake to a privileged few, I’d vote for Anthony Williams.
