MONDAY

Local DJs stepping onstage to introduce a show are often greeted with boos—often deservedly. When Paul Harris comes out to kick off his Third Annual Paul Harris Comedy Concert for Children’s Hospital, however, some slack must be cut because Harris is not just looking to bask in reflected glory. His efforts have raised $150,000 for kids. Sure, there are events in this town every night that are worthy—and as boring as CNBC—but this year’s concert promises to be both smart and silly. In the former category is the eruditely amusing Bob Somerby. In the latter is the infectiously insane a capella group, Da Vinci’s Notebook. In between are the fat and funny John Pinette (the Seinfeld finale’s carjackee), comedian/ juggler Chris Bliss, and René Hicks. At 7:30 p.m. at the Warner Theatre, 513 13th St. NW. $20-30. (202) 783-4000. (Dave Nuttycombe)
