Clarence “Citizen Cope” Greenwood had inked his name on a contract with Capitol and was set to have his groove-inflected rock platter released this fall. Then Gary Gersh, the label’s president, who had signed him, was ousted this summer, and the new regime at Capitol lost interest. While Cope has yet to find a new label, WHFS has been playing his song “200,000,” and he’s scheduled to have a cut on the soundtrack to Alanis Morissette songwriter-producer Glen Ballard’s movie Clubland.
