“We recorded this thing in August, and it’s finally outit seems like it’s been forever,” says 30¢ Thieves drummer Nick Crupi. Forgive his impatience with the process: The self-released 7-inch EP is the first recording by the ambitious band of young idealists from HyattsvilleCrupi and bandmate Aaron Harmon will graduate with the Class of 2000 at DeMatha Catholic High School. Recorded by Kevin Good at Phase Studios in College Park, the record documents the band’s stage-honed hits “Inspiration” and “In Need of Help,” as well as “Joe’s Song” and the instrumental “Give Me the Password.” It will be distributed by Dischord and is available now at Smash in Georgetown and DCCD in Adams Morgan.
