In Sherry Ann Mitchell’s A Christmas Wish, Jean goes from rags to riches when she moves with her husband into a big house with several cars. Not knowing how to manage money, she loses everything when he dies, the neighbors gossip, and she has to ward off the landlord’s attempts to be intimate with her while providing a happy Christmas for her son.
