After keeping a low profile for years, Galaxy Hut owner and singer Alice Despard, with the recent release of her new CD, is re-emerging. Tonight, she and a roster of Hut regulars will be dispensing idiosyncratic takes on pop music on a bill she’s titled “The Lords of Love.” Hosted by raw-voiced a capella singer Jonny Cohen, this talent show will offer both offbeat and subtle lyrical takes on amour. Synth-pop duo Aerialist opts for the latter approach. This Arlington combo’s eponymous debut, produced by Mike Ivey, pings through 20 years of electropop. Using pre-’85 synths and a Casio, singer Lary Hoffman draws from Ultravox, the Silicon Teens, and Unrest, while his funky drummer keeps the sound contemporary. With Fire Dean and Sri Baba Marley Jones at 9:30 p.m. at the Black Cat, 1831 14th St. NW. $6. (202) 667-7960. (Steve Kiviat)
