There’s still time to nominate local icons for Best of D.C.
In your cover story (“Film Strip,” 1/15), I think it’s relevant to generalize about how much dancers may make, but inappropriate to tag specific individuals (i.e., especially Brook) with a specific dollar figure. First of all, the actual amount probably varies widely from night to night. Most important, this is information in a public forum about essentially a private matter, and one that could adversely affect the fiscal and tax-paying status of the person involvedeven if the information was voluntarily given. The individuals involved are not public figures, so editorial discretion should protect their rights.
Please, use the golden rule. You don’t want to be audited, I don’t want to be, and neither should these ladies! As I understand it, they all make a base salary and receive tips, just like in many service professions. That’s all you really know.
