The Cardigans’ ongoing quest to demonstrate (once again) that Swede pop is as radio-friendly as any other variant continues with Gran Turismo. I bemoan their decision to ignore the Black Sabbath canon this time outOzzy is a great lounge singer, and Nina Persson proved it. But if maturation requires leaving kitsch behind, so be it; Turismo’s dub-inflected melancholy suits Persson’s demeanordespite considerable efforts to sound chirpy, she’s never seemed to understand that blondes are supposed to have more fun.
