The Cardigans’ ongoing quest to demonstrate (once again) that Swede pop is as radio-friendly as any other variant continues with Gran Turismo. I bemoan their decision to ignore the Black Sabbath canon this time out—Ozzy is a great lounge singer, and Nina Persson proved it. But if maturation requires leaving kitsch behind, so be it; Turismo’s dub-inflected melancholy suits Persson’s demeanor—despite considerable efforts to sound chirpy, she’s never seemed to understand that blondes are supposed to have more fun. Kent, fellow Swedes who purport to be more popular than the headliner back home, swallow their pride as the opening act tonight. At 8:45 p.m. at the 9:30 Club, 815 V St. NW. $12. (202) 393-0930.
