Speaking of entertaining pols, the Image Band, a calypso and soca combo, recently spent several weeks in the Virgin Islands, where it played at the inaugural celebration of the islands’ new governor and lieutenant governor. While in St. Croix, the band, which now includes members from Haiti, Jamaica, Antigua, D.C., and Virginia, in addition to its Virgin Islands-born founders, recorded its new EP, A Drivah Walkup. The Image Band will be playing locally at Bailey’s and Basin Street in February and March, and is planning to play in St. Thomas in April as part of the Virgin Islands Carnival. (SK)
