It says something that a local band can stick together long enough to release a CD containing a decade’s worth of music. Cravin’ Dogs have managed that unlikely feat with 1989-1999: 70 Years of Hits. The subtitle is a bit of a stretch, but accurate in the sense that the Dogs’ material has roots going way back. Though the lineup has changed over the years, the group has always remained true to the spirit of rock ‘n’ roll—and the music that spawned it: rave-ups and romps, guitars mournful and raucous, with a solid backbeat that demands dancing. The old dogs perform their latest tricks with Last Train Home at 7:30 p.m. at the Barns of Wolf Trap, 1624 Trap Road, Vienna. $12. (703) 938-2404. (Dave Nuttycombe)
