I read with dismay the restaurant-closing story portrayed in “Ethnic Cleansing” (Young & Hungry, 4/30). I’ve been frequenting that strip mall since I moved to Arlington in 1986 and enjoy the culture the restaurants lend to the community. However, since we’re not in the Republic of Santa Monica (which recently changed its Draconian rent stabilization laws), I recognize the rights of property owners to regulate their tenants. Similarly, as a feeling Arlington peon, I recognize my right to boycott all the chain stores moving into the renovated space in the 1700 block of Wilson Boulevard and to encourage my gustatory friends to do likewise.
