In keeping with his neighborhood’s main business, Adams Morgan advisory neighborhood commissioner Andy Miscuk has come up with a novel way to raise money for the community: slinging drinks. Over the next few weeks, Miscuk plans to volunteer as a bartender at various Adams Morgan bars and donate his tips to community groups. Miscuk says he first got the idea a couple months ago when he volunteered at Polly’s Cafe, a bar on U Street NW, to raise money for a friend’s ailing dog. In one night, he reports, he pulled in $200 for the dog’s medication. Miscuk is confident that neighbors will buy drinks for the sake of the ‘hood. “I think they’re going to come down and support [the cause],” he says.
