I have been a patron of Diversite on numerous occasions, and I have never experienced untoward behavior of any kind. I am a quite mature woman who enjoys the cuisine, atmosphere, and, especially, diversity, of the club. You have demeaned this establishment in your particularly abusive and accusatory article (Loose Lips, 7/16) with no reference whatsoever to facts linking the club to the unfortunate instances of violence that you cited. Is it not true that there are a number of establishments in that block of 14th Street, and is it not also true that there may be persons who hang around that area who are not patrons of those establishments who may engage in violent confrontations? Where is your proof that Diversite is an element in these misfortunes? Do you have an agenda against that particular place, one of the few multicultural venues in a newly developing area?

I am most concerned about your jumping to conclusions and threatening the viability of a growing gathering place owned by a person of color.
