Fashion Police Metrorail has won numerous design awards, and now its police force has followed suit, so to speak: The National Association of Uniform Manufacturers and Distributors has named Metro Transit Police the “Best Dressed Specialized Agency” in the nation, according to the August issue of Law and Order magazine. With their conservative but timeless ensemble of creased tan trousers and olive-green jackets accented with olive-brown hats and black shoes, the Metro police have received honorable mention several times in the 22-year-old competition. The recent addition of the bike patrol officers’ uniform—featuring “stylish yellow and blue windbreakers punctuated with navy pants,” according to a department press release—just may have put them over the top. Metro Transit Police Deputy Chief Polly Hanson believes their outfits are as classic as a Brooks Brothers suit. “We’ve always stuck with 100 percent wool pants and quality fabrics,” she notes.
