The quality of articles in the Washington City Paper has been on the decline, but your article by Anonymous in the Sept. 24 edition (Real Stories, “Meet John Doe”) hit rock bottom. It was so boring, poorly written, and self-serving that it was as good as an announcement to the paper’s readers that the City Paper has totally run out of stories. It was an absolute waste of three pages of paper—why not make the newspaper less bulky instead? The only person who would get anything out of such an article would be Anonymous himself, who was probably using it in a last-ditch attempt to overcome his erectile dysfunction. And the only thing the article managed to do, if anything, was to provide some information as to where illegal activity takes place—which is not in the best interests of the city this paper serves. It was not cute, not funny, not sad, not interesting, and definitely not newsworthy.
