Kudos to Washington City Paper and Brett Anderson for the excellent piece on Last Train Home and its fine new record, True North (“Geography Lesson,” 10/29). Discord bands, indie kids, techno types, and hiphoppers seem to get all the ink while bands like Train, the Graverobbers, the Linemen, and others quietly write and record little masterpieces.

If you’re someone who is moved by songcraft on the order of Robbie Robertson, Gram Parsons, Guy Clark, and the like, you don’t have to go too far to hear music of the first water right here in D.C. For five or six bucks at the door, you can usually get your heart broken and sung back together again before last call.
