Kathleen Madigan doesn’t get our cab system. “That zone thing,” she calls it. “I’ve been in every city in this country, and that is such a lie,” she says. “This is such a scam—’Welcome to Washington!’” Still, the comedienne likes working here. “I love coming there—that and Denver are my favorite places to work,” she reveals, adding, “I’m comparing this to, like, if I have a week in Omaha. I’ve already toured the cornflake factory.” So we rate higher than cereal. That’s good. Madigan is calling from her Los Angeles home, where she is filming a “pilot thingy” for a friend of hers. It’s about comics and their hobbies. “I have a ton of hobbies,” says Madigan, “and I’m not good at any of them.” Thank goodness she is good at her regular job, having been named Best Female Stand-Up Comic by the American Comedy Awards. Madigan appears at 8:30 p.m. at the Batcave-like Improv, 1140 Connecticut Ave., NW. $12-$15. (202) 296-7008. (DN)
