Thanks to Amanda Ripley and the Washington City Paper for the attention and solid writing on “John Did It” (11/12). As a juror at John Williamson Jr.’s trial, I heard enough to convince me that even Inspector Clouseau could find the killer of Derrick Jefferson.

I also concluded that D.C.’s homicide buffoons—whose ineptitude cost Williamson a year of his life and nearly all of it—lack the interest or aptitude to do so.

I hope you’ll follow up and let us know if the department is investigating the performance of the detectives in the case—and what it’s doing, if anything, to find and arrest Jefferson’s real killers.
