City Paper is not for tourists
On Page 15 in the Jan. 7 issue is a full-page ad from the District Advocates for Urban Living. There are several rather zealous arguments made for living in D.C. One is the implication that, since the murder rate is up in Northern Virginia and down in D.C., it must therefore be safer to live in D.C. Another is that, because 9 out of 10 parents prefer D.C. schools to North Korean schools, we therefore have a highly rated school system. But the most interesting is that the murder rate in D.C. has gone down over 100 percent in the last decade. So now murdered people in D.C. are coming back to life? Wow, this really is a safe place to live!
