Momentum Dance Theatre’s “Collard Greens and Gefilte Fish: A Menu for Black and Jewish Survival” features a rapping Jew, which, on its own, isn’t all that remarkable, given that Beastie Boys Mike Diamond, Adam Yauch, and Adam Horovitz probably rhymed a Hebrew word or two while reciting the haphtara portion of their bar mitzvah services. (OK, so Yauch now identifies as a dedicated Buddhist, but that doesn’t change biology or painful memories of Hebrew school.) What’s truly innovative is how artistic director Roberta Rothstein uses music, movement, and monologues to construct a fresh, raw dialogue between the two title groups, who are arguably intertwined in the American experience. It’s B.Y.O. soul food or Manischewitz today at 3 p.m. at Living Stage, 1901 14th St. NW. $15. (202) 672-0102. (Elissa Silverman)
