MONDAY
“The Post management is definitely going to hell,” says provocateur/impresario Joe Lee. No one who cares about music in Washington should disagree—and most of the District’s premier players will be onstage for tonight’s “Salute to Richard Harrington: 20 Years of Style!” After singlehandedly covering the entire music world for the once-respected daily and tirelessly supporting all the home teams, Harrington was shoved to a part-time Weekend position—a blunder akin to the Red Sox trading Babe Ruth. The breadth of this all-star lineup speaks volumes about Harrington’s contribution to our scene: Ron Holloway, the Keter Betts Trio, the original Rosslyn Mountain Boys, Mike Auldridge, John Jennings, Chuck Brown, the Billy Hancock Orchestra, Eddie & Earl Jones, Catfish Hodge, the Orioles, and “surprise guests” that cognoscenti should be able to figure out. Cancel your subscription and show up at 7:30 p.m. at the Birchmere, 3701 Mount Vernon Ave., Alexandria. $12 (proceeds benefit So Others Might Eat). (703) 549-7500. (Dave Nuttycombe)
