Your recent article depicting the sorry state of affairs at Federal City (“Helter Shelter,” 2/25) was most timely and appreciated. For years now, the place has been a poster child for mismanagement. I found it quite interesting that the 3-South team leader, Goldie “Sprite” LeMar, had so little to contribute to your article; he represents all that is wrong with the shelter. And as for Terri Bishop’s comments regarding resident deaths, I had flashbacks to Robert McNamara discussing Vietnam and collateral damage. As a resident, I agree with Robert Egger: Get rid of sullen, incompetent staffers. Have professional management take over, and, most important, sell the joint and take the money and put it to good use elsewhere.
