FRIDAY

If you want to avoid yet another St. Patrick’s Day full of green beer, sappy pub sing-alongs, and people who definitely ain’t Irish throwing up on your shoes, then celebrate the occasion in style with Kila. On tour to promote the U.S. release of its second Green Linnet CD, Lemonade and Buns, this young Dublin band takes Celtic fusion into the 21st century, revving up and funkifying the rhythms of ancient dance tunes and ballads. Lemonade and Buns shows that the Gaelic tongue adapts brilliantly to edgy hiphop and Afro-pop beats. And uilleann piper Eoin Dillon, fiddler Dee Armstrong, and flutist Colm O Snodaigh rattle off speedy riffs worthy of the hottest rock ‘n’ roll guitarists. The Gaelic funk ‘n’ reel holiday party starts at 8 p.m. at the Barns of Wolf Trap, 1635 Trap Road, Vienna. $16. (703) 938-2404. (Ken Roseman)
