According to the Arkansas Chronicle, the biggest, baddest sheriff of Benton County, Ark., is former D.C. cop Andrew Jackson Lee III. And maybe the baddest thing about him is how he got there from here. On Jan. 1, 1979, Lee left the Metropolitan Police Department on disability, due to what he claims was a debilitating back injury. Since then, he has received a monthly disability check courtesy of District of Columbia taxpayers. The career-ending injury, however, hasn’t prevented Lee from executing similar duties in Benton County, where he says he issues tickets, stops felonies, and places himself daily in the line of danger in order to “perform my job well.” The Chronicle reports that Lee bench-presses 300 pounds, and possesses a video of him rappelling down cliffs. “I’m disabled according to D.C. regulations,” Lee says, when asked why he can perform police work in one place but not another. “I’m not an invalid. I can walk, and I do have sex.” —Robin Bingham
