Your piece on Nile Ruff (“An Incredible, Stupendous, Eye-Popping Tale About a Totally Normal Kid,” 3/24) was masterfully written. In all the years I have read the Washington City Paper, this is the first cover story I have been able to read from start to finish. And it was wonderful.

I am sure that Nile provided endless material. (She truly does seem touched by a certain magic.) But the credit in this story belongs to the storyteller, Laura Lang. She removed herself and released all the cynicism that comes with being an adult. In doing so, she captured the innocence and freshness and energy of being 7. And isn’t being 7 beautiful?

Thank you for the trip.
