City Paper is not for tourists
This is a response to your recent article on the Income Maintenance Administration (IMA) (“Waiting Room: D.C. Income Maintenance Office,” 3/23). The Downtown D.C. Business Improvement District runs a comprehensive drop-in center for homeless people, the Downtown Services Center (DSC). The DSC depends on partner providers for the services offered, and one of the most valued partnerships is with IMA. Each Monday, Angela Perkins of IMA arrives at the DSC, meets with 10 or more clients, and takes their pertinent information. The following Thursday, just three days later, she comes back to the center with electronic benefits transfer cards for food stamps and medical assistance, as well as state-issued IDs, for those clients. I appreciate her efficiency and am grateful for her work as a representative of IMA.
