I love the Washington City Paper and look forward to reading it every Thursday—as I have ever since I moved to D.C. almost five years ago. I was shocked and disturbed, however, to open my beloved paper last week and see the ad on Page 32 placed by the Consistency in Compassion Campaign. While I wholeheartedly embrace freedom of expression, I do know that publications often decline to run certain advertisements on the basis of offensive content. I would have hoped that someone at the City Paper would have recognized the impropriety and offensive nature of this advertisement and refused placement. I would hate to think that the piddling revenue this insertion afforded clouded your better judgment.
