Who says you have to leave D.C. to make it big? Former Washington-based dancers Vincent Cacialano, Sarah Slifer, and Jeff Gunshol dispersed to parts as far-flung as Amsterdam, New York, and Baltimore. But when the time came to premier their new dance/theater piece, “Why Do It?…No Reply,” they knew they could count on the Federal City to show ’em some love. “Why Do It?,” which combines text, video, music, and original designs by Dutch artist Anno Dijkstra (who’ll also be on hand), offers a creative antidote to apathy and cynicism: Don’t fight against superficiality, embrace it. These self-proclaimed “pop stars” are all beautiful movers and brilliantly imaginative performers, so even if you leave with your cynicism intact, you’ll at least have had an engaging time having it assaulted. At 8 p.m. at George Washington University’s Building J Theater, 2131 G St. NW. $6-$8. (202) 994-9023. (Holly Bass)
