Scholarship is not the enemy of romance, at least not in the music of the Bigger Lovers, who seem to have started by studying every prime power-pop notable from the Everly Brothers to the Beatles to Big Star to the dBs and beyond. The Philadelphia quartet, which includes former members of such indie-cred bands as Moped and the Diane Linkletter Experience, then recorded an album of giddy tunes (complete with a knowing Everlys quotation) that was sure to make them at least as famous as, say, the Three O’Clock, or maybe even the Real Kids. But the label that was supposed to release the album has tanked, so for now the only place you can hear the Lovers sparkle is with Torch Marauder at 9 p.m. at the Galaxy Hut, 2711 Wilson Blvd., Arlington.
