We hate to sound fussy, but when someone kicks off a campaign for the school board, we wish he’d check the spelling of the word “candiacy.” Nonetheless, a press release from Ward 5 candidate Charles “Chuck” Ballard did communicate several educational approaches to D.C. voters. The candidate is clearly no Supreme Court watcher: The document mentions that Ballard is “co-author of getting prayer back into our public schools.” And D.C. history probably won’t find a big space in Ballard’s curriculum. Under his list of accomplishments, he brags that he once “[w]orked closely with former D.C. Mayor Sharon Pratt Kelly,” who was drummed out of office after one term. Ballard could not be reached for comment. —Elissa Silverman
