In LL’s “Political Potpourri” section on Aug. 25, he states that “renowned local arts patron” Peggy Cooper Cafritz’s preparations to run for school board president—with the apparent blessings of the mayor—was an indication that Anthony A. Williams had “shaken off his racial insecurities and decided that a white woman is the best choice to run an almost entirely minority school system.”

Peggy Cooper Cafritz is African-American, and yes, she is a local

arts patron.
